In Michigan, a man is facing charges related to farm equipment theft.
Recently, a man in Michigan was caught after allegedly stealing a piece of farm equipment.
According to the state's Saginaw News, Gary C. Middleton, a 51-year-old man from Allentown, Michigan, is expected to be arraigned in Huron County for a number of charges, including larceny amounting to less than $20,000.
Authorities claim that Middleton took a trailer to Osentoski Farm Equipment and attempted to steal a piece of machinery from the dealership in July. He was arrested by law enforcement officers from Bad Axe, Michigan.
As it turns out, this may not have been the first time he allegedly stole farm equipment. The paper noted that Middleton faces similar charges in the state's Lapeer, Macomb and Sanilac counties.
Given the supposed activities of men like Middleton, some people may wonder what they can do in order to protect their farm equipment. According to the National Equipment Register, fencing may be one way people can protect their farm equipment. Furthermore, equipment owners should work to immobilize their equipment, which would include removing batteries and lowering blades and buckets.
